inXile has killed Flying Rider

FlyingTom | Game, iPhone | Thursday, August 14th, 2008

The 15 August, Flying Rider will be removed from the App Store has inXile required it. I receive one mail per day attacking me for rights reasons… It’s very boring, so I decide to stop everything. Sorry for you guys. Understand that I have put money and time on this project, it’s hard for me too… But the sharks always win…

I will close the Flying Rider’s story by saying:

In competition, you’re the first if you are better than all other competitors, not by killing them. Because if you stay the only one competitor, so you will be the first and the last at the same time.

Damn, you did great my friend, I am curious what the email said but o well, try to work with them, you can probably make a money deal with them and it will turn out ok… I didn’t want to see this project die

  2. FlyingTom dit :

    The project is already died…

  3. MertenNor dit :

    Hi
I just wondering sins you will end the FlyingRider project

Can you put the flying rider on installer 4.0 ?

so other people can have it ?

then you can get feedbacks and stuff and also you can have a donation…

    MertenNor

  4. JJ dit :

Damn them!, it was such a great app aswell. If we allready have downloaded it will it delete itself?

  5. FlyFan dit :

    Hello Peter,

How can Inxile tell you to remove YOUR app? Although it may seem similar to linerider, you can’t delete it because they requested you to. They can’t do anything about it because it’s not even copying their code or their design in any shape or form. They may threaten you but that doesn’t mean shut down because of that! They really can’t do anything to you. Why are there many sudoku apps, bejeweled apps, and others? They can’t take you down, you’re scared, but my friend, you have no reason to be because you’re not doing a wrong with your app. Inxile is jealous and they want you not to succeed. Inxile can try suing you but that’s just threatening you and nothing will happen. You have a right to develop apps!

even though I already downloaded it I still feel bad. It’s your game and you have the right to it not them.

If we already downloaded it will it delete itself?
And why not make it for installer or cydia?

Keep on going man don’t give up

  11. Flagpole dit :

You could still make the app available through cydia and installer for those who have jailbroken their ipods/iphones. and put a donation link in the description or something.

  12. Dude dit :

ok man heres what i am going to do since i already downloaded it and have my ipo jailbroken i am going to remove the drm post a repo to it and tell you the repo so you can still work on it and give us updates! Because just as long as you didnt use any of jnxiles code or images they cannit do anything to you just make sure that you didnt copy any code or stuff and it should be legal and tbey cant do anything to you!

  13. Alpaca dit :

How could they have copyright claims over this application? They didn’t make this application. Your not using their images or code. Is it open source? NO. You did it all by yourself with your own code. They don’t own the idea of drawing lines and having a sled ride on it. I could make a game like that and if they said anything I would say fuck you its not your application. I think that it is illegal for them to be making copyright claims for it. I think at the least put it on Installer 4.0 or Cydia.

    My opinion,
    Jacob Lindelof

  14. AngryAtinXile dit :

Everyone please complain to them. If they get hundreds of angry emails, they might change their mind. If that doesn’t work, we should organize a boycott of all of their products/ games. Someone should hack their website and totally destroy it lol. jk

  15. paper does taste better dit :

well if you r gunna fully giv up at least it was the best exclusive app

  16. wyvern706 dit :

I am sure Tom will approve it :)

But, for all of you with JailBroken iPhone’s/iPods… Here is a .app.

Copy it to ~/Applications set permissions to 755.

  20. FlyingTomROCKS dit :

OK dude i really was looking forward t this app…HOW THE HELL IS THIS APP BORING!? have they even considered leting it go public!? and see the feedback and the many downloads it gets because their are 100% totaly stupid a$$ app’s out their and they go public like some game called “Scrabble” wtf is that some lame drawing app u get 4 colours and a save button THATS ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND THIS APP CAN KICK ANY OTHER APP’S AS4 ON APP STORE WTF DUDE DONT QUITE IF YOU STILL HAVE THE DATA/FILE FOR THE APP PROUDLY PUT IT ON THE APP STORE IM NOT SAYING THAT SO THAT I CAN DOWNLOAD IT (I WILL IF YOU DO xD) BUT U SHOULD PROUDLY POST IT AND LIKE BOB92 SAID : SEND THEM A “STFU” MESSAGE. Dude ur losing everything you worked you fu.ckin as.s off with and ur willing to just throw it away just like that!? WTF MAN OK HERES SOMETHING TO THING ABOUT: Thier are like 5Million Blackjack games on the app store, all of them preety much alike or 100% alike!!! i dont think everytime they poste it on the app store an opposing blackjack app developer sends them hate mails just so that they have better sells!!!! What about “LineRider”: YOUR APP IS CALLED “FLYING RIDER”. Thier are like 1Million diffrences in this app than line rider has. you get a diffrent rider. and all ur doing is drawing likes and tracks just like line rider. and blackjack has the EXACT SAME GOAL: HIT 21!!!!!! Why do u have to be threatened that ull get sued. Ok dude i beileve in you and i know you will do the right thing. But my last remark oon this subject is: Are you really telling us “FANS” the truth? or did they pay you off with like $3.5k or something like that because if they did please just tell us the truth. And “IF” they did and you feel ashamed…or not can we get the real e-mail message that they sent you. i KNow ever1 here wants to know what happned because every f.u.ckin day iv been looking at the app store for like 1-2 Hours im not exagirating or dramatizing id go to google and search and go to apple page and search go on blogs and ask ect. ect. but now after all this waiting i come here to read that you/they kilt the game!!!! dude do whats right and give us fans the truth. U rock and always will man

  21. Bichiliad dit :

I’m sorry this didn’t work out like you wanted it to. I was looking forward to it, but I didn’t hear about it in time. Hey, you had a great port going, from the vids I’ve seen. Hopefully Xile will change their minds (fat chance), but in the mean time, at least we know it can be done. Merci Beaucoup.

    Hi Tom,

why not put it on Cydia and with a paypal donation link for you?

would be the best for all of us with jailbroken phones iPods :D :D

    cheers

  36. FlyingTom dit :

    Danny,

The official Line Rider iRide is clearly better than Flying Rider. I think that 2,99$ is not very expensive…
Anyway, I don’t want to put time on this project anymore. Maybe I can put the original source code on SourceForge for example… as it is…
If someone is interesting on the source code, just let me know.

  37. Peter dit :

    Nice apps, such a waste!

You can make it available for jailbreak phones
    or check-in to Googlecode ;-)
